What are the current and emerging programming/scripting languages that are important to DH work? Discussion during this session will focus on topics such as C++, PHP, Javascript, and others – as well as platforms and framworks such as Xamarin, CakePHP, Zend, etc. that are important to DH work. We plan to discuss ways in which these languages are used in DH work, how they are useful to us in professional situations, etc.
This is a two-part workshop for beginners. Attendance at the first is not required for attendance at the second. No software installation is required.

I’m interested in having a discussion about digital humanities and digital scholarship in university libraries. How should it, or should it not, be supported? Is physical space or staff expertise more important? What about knowledge of the discipline? What are some successful and unsuccessful models? I’m also interested in discussing whether we should be “supporting” or “collaborating,” perhaps using the OCLC report on DH centers (February 2014) as a point of departure.
I am interested in a game studies session. Possible topics could be:
This workshop will be an informal look at digital mapping and information visualization tools. Will spend the first part of the workshop discussing mapping and visualization projects/interests of group members, as well as opportunities the group sees for these tools and this sort of work. After our initial discussion we will work together and in small groups to gain experience with the tools by working with the real problems or issues identified by group members.
Please bring along data/project ideas you want to think about mapping!
